Music in harmony with nature

Enjoy more free music at Sehmel Homestead Park Amphitheater in July (and August)! Join us on Wednesdays from 6-8 PM. Here’s the line up:

The Kiwanis Club of Gig Harbor will collect non-perishable food and personal care items for FISH Food Bank at each of the concerts.

Summer Movie Nights

Friday night movies in August at Sehmel Homestead Park

Sit back, relax and savor free Friday summer movie nights under the stars at the Sehmel Homestead Park Amphitheater. Times vary, so be sure to double-check.

For Seniors and Adults

Get in the groove with Gentle Hatha Yoga

Tuesdays, 3-3:45 PM
Arletta Schoolhouse at Hales Pass Park

This group class guides participants through gentle stretch movements in an inclusive setting. The goals are to proceed toward developing strength, flexibility, and mindful promotion of the connection between movement and breath. This class is designed for mixed-level participants and will include some modifications using chair-based poses. All levels are welcome. Register for individual classes or for the whole month.

Hatha Flow Yoga

Arletta Schoolhouse at Hales Pass Park

Arletta Schoolhouse at Hales Pass Park Hatha yoga is another type of practice that guides participants through stretch movements and focused balance poses, as well as fluid pose transitions. Much like gentle yoga, the goals include developing strength, flexibility, and the same mindful connection between movement and breath. This class is recommended for those who are comfortable with a mixture of standing and sitting poses. All levels are welcome. Register for individual classes or for the whole month.

Friday July 7, 11 AM – 12:30 PM

Arletta Schoolhouse at Hales Pass Park Let’s DANCE! Join us for demonstrations and basic beginner lessons in swing and line dancing. Bring your friends and your dancing shoes for a fun time. Refreshments served.

Friday July 21, 11 AM – 12:30 PM

Arletta Schoolhouse at Hales Pass Park This month we discover Mahjong! If you’ve never played, there will be a lesson table or two. If you already love this game, you’ll enjoy matching your strategies against other players. If you have a Mahjong set, please bring it. All levels of experience welcome!

Specialized Recreation

Harbor Social Club, 15+
Thursdays, 10-11:30 AM

Arletta Schoolhouse at Hales Pass Park

This class is for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Everyone is welcome. Get together with your friends for some movement and crafts. Take a walk, sit-ercise, or just dance! Each week we move and create while hanging out with old friends and making new ones.

Drum Circle
Tuesdays, 10-11:30 AM

Hales Pass Park Picnic Shelter

Sessions are led by occupational therapist Denise Tremblay and adapt music, movement, and creative activities to encourage group participation. Drumming can have a positive effect on the cardio, muscular, and sensory nervous systems and naturally elevates mood.

There’s STILL time: Summer camps

There are so many activities to choose from. It’s not too late to sign up, make new friends, and learn something to last a lifetime.

Teen Ultimate and Frisbee Golf
July 5-7

For 12-16 year olds. Three awesome days of fun playing Ultimate Frisbee and Frisbee Golf!

Junior Chef Camp!

July 10-13 OR July 24-27

Teaming up with Ocean5, learn all you “knead” to know about the secrets to making the perfect cookie dough, pizza and sourdough bread! A week filled with flour-dusted adventures for 8–12-year-olds, 9 AM – NOON.

Great+Full:
Girls Running Group

Thursdays, 9:30-10:30 AM
Begins July 6

This group helps with endurance, communication, and self-discipline for both experienced and novice 9-14 y/o runners.

Archery Camp
July 5-7 and July 17-20
1-4 PM

Learn to shoot a bow and arrow with Brad Owen, 3rd Level Instructor with USA Archery. This camp features an intro to various types of archery gear, how to shoot properly, prepare for competitions, and arts and crafts.
