Pierce County Trails Day
July 25 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT
This is an opportunity for trail users to connect, celebrate, and improve our community trails.
Join us as we partner with ForeverGreen Trails to celebrate Pierce County Trails Day at PenMet Parks or your own favorite park! Enjoy a walk and trim the trails as you go.
PenMet has many miles of forest trails that we all enjoy, but the forest enjoys being a forest, and that means growing, and growing, and growing—and the trails get a little tighter and tighter, and tighter. We have a few people volunteering to trim trails, but it’s simply not enough.
The trails need your help, and here’s what you can do:
Take clippers when you walk and clip overgrown areas. Check out the trail maps on our website and note the trail markers
E-mail PenMet Park and tell us where you clipped (e.g. B-F Trail)
If there are areas that need more attention, let us know where that is, using trail markers on the map
Most small clippings can just fall. place larger branches under the brush
Avoid throwing cut material on top as it just browns out and looks bad
Wear appropriate clothing and gloves, and bring water
Thank you for your help in keeping our trails passable.
