Description: This 18.7-acre park was acquired in October, 2007 for $1.3M. The acquisition was funded from public sources including a state RCO grant ($500,000) and PenMet Parks Capital Improvement Program funds, as well as private fundraising efforts managed by the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation ($500,000). Conceptual plans for the park have been developed and will be modified for the inclusion of Knight Forest which was recently acquired by the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation. No development funding has been identified at this time. A funding measure including approximately $10,000,000 for development of the park was placed before voters in 2008 and received majority support (53%), however 60% is required for approval. Economic and other conditions have delayed any re-submission of a funding measure to voters. Public access is available via primitive trails constructed by EnviroCorps.
