The Peninsula Metropolitan Park District (PenMet Parks) Board is composed of 5 elected Commissioners elected to six-year staggered terms:

  • William Sehmel, term expires 2015
  • Todd Iverson, term expires 2013
  • Scott Junge, President, term expires 2015
  • Curtis L. Hancock, Clerk, term expires 2011
  • Jon Ortgiesen, term expires 2013



William Sehmel

Occupation:  Real Estate and Construction Industries
Personal Information:  Three children and one grandchild.  Lifelong resident of the Gig Harbor area.
Community Involvement:  Active in park activities since 1992.  Member of PARCs, Peninsula Park and Recreation Council, and Friends of Homestead Park.  Worked on the current comprehensive plan of Gig Harbor.


Todd Iverson
tiverson@penmetparks.org
Education:  Graduate of the University of Portland
Occupation:  Longshoreman at the Port of Tacoma
Personal Information:  Married.  Enjoys fishing, kayaking and traveling.  Todd is also co-founder of America In Solidarity, a worker's rights group based in Tacoma.


Scott Junge

Occupation:  Owner of Rosedale Gardens and Rosedale’s in Purdy.
Personal Information:  Married with four children.  Enjoys sports of all kinds, plays soccer and USTA tennis.  Coached for children’s soccer and basketball teams.  Also enjoys hiking and just being outdoors.
Community Involvement:  Member of Gig Harbor Rotary and past president.  Served two terms on the board for the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce.  Also served on the board for the Rosedale Community Center, as well as the Cultural Arts Commission, Friends of Homestead
                                         Park, and the YMCA Task Force.


Curtis L. Hancock

Education:  BS in Commerce, University of Virginia.  Master of Business Administration, Campbell University.
Occupation:  Planner and Project Manager for Metro Parks Tacoma.
Personal Information:  Single father of three children.
Community Involvement:  Member of Gig Harbor United Methodist Church.  Co-chairman of the committee that established PenMet Parks and served as interim Executive Director of the newly created park district.



Jon Ortgiesen
jortgiesen@penmetparks.org
Education:  BS in Landscape Architecture
Cal Poly, Pomona, California
Occupation:  Owner of Skate Parkitecture, design business.
Currently employed by Pierce County Parks.
Personal Information:  Married with two children.  Enjoys the outdoors and traveling to different countries, engaging in sport activities, and remodeling houses.
